Presiden Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) dipastikan bakal membuka secara resmi Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) Aceh-Sumatera Utara (Sumut) 2024 pada 9 September mendatang / Foto: Laman resmi PON 2024
Kepastian kehadiran Presiden Jokowi disampaikan Ketua Umum (Ketum) KONI Pusat, Marciano Norman. “Memang pembukaan semula dilakukan pada 8 September tetapi terakhir perkembangannya, Bapak Presiden menghendaki tanggal 9 September 2024 di Stadion Harapan Bangsa Lhong Raya,” kata Marciano dilansir dari laman resmi PON 2024, Senin (26/8/2024).
Selain itu, Marciano juga memastikan Presiden Jokowi akan menutup secara resmi PON 2024. Upacara penutupannya dijadwalkan dihelat pada 20 September mendatang di Stadion Utama, Deli Serdang, Sumut.
“Yang membuka Bapak Presiden dan yang menutup juga Bapak Presiden juga,” jelas Marciano.
Selain itu, Wakil Presiden RI, Ma’ruf Amin juga bakal hadir dalam upacara penutupan PON 2024. Kemudian ada pula presiden dan wakil presiden terpilih, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Sebagai informasi, Aceh akan menjadi tuan rumah PON 2024 bagi 33 cabang olahraga (cabor) yang mempertandingkan 42 disiplin dan 510 nomor pertandingan. Diperkirakan sebanyak 5.636 atlet dan 2.752 ofisial akan hadir di Aceh saat PON 2024.
Begitu pula di Sumut, tuan rumah bagi 34 cabor yang menggelar pertandingan pada 46 disiplin dan 528 nomor. Bakal ada 6.281 atlet serta 3.140 ofisial yang berada di Sumut dalam pagelaran PON tahun ini.
